From the interiors with large, wide windows open to the beautiful sunny landscapes, to the capture of the buildings on the outside, wrapped in the green of the grass and the shadows of the trees, Dimitrie Berea will devote an extensive study to the natural surroundings. In his work, monumental architectural constructions, marked by elegant white and sumptuous staircases, will follow one another in an exhilarating rhythm with palm trees or blooming gardens. Borrowing from the characteristics of Impressionism and Fauvism, the artist will carry out a series of chromatic experiments in which he will highlight light and colour. The vivid, balanced and harmonized drawing with the chromatic palette and the short, hastily superimposed brush strokes reveal the artist as a true colourist. He goes beyond the precepts imposed by Impressionism and takes great creative freedom, so that his shadows will sometimes take on unexpected accents in violet-blue hues. Dimitrie Berea will take ownership of the plein-air painting process ab initio, so taking advantage of his versatile nature, he will work directly in front of the subject - in Paris, London or America - and will take advantage of these creative moments to interact with the curious public. In the cycle dedicated to landscapes from the south of France, the artist pays homage to his masters: Renoir, Bonnard and Matisse. In this work, the landscape is crowned by the presence of characters that are rather suggested. In the bottom right part of the composition, at the base of the stairs, we can see several people seated at a table. Centrally, to the right of the grand doorway, a feminine silhouette makes its presence felt under the auspices of vivid, warm colours with clear accents of sunlight. Therefore, through this work, we observe a constant - namely, the invasion of colour - that will accompany him in all stages of his artistic career.
