The Last Judgement, a theme that has earned Matei Țâmforea the reputation of an excellent iconographic narrator, is depicted in a register composition. In the top register, the city of Jerusalem and the theophanic scene of Jesus Christ, surrounded by the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Baptist, are represented. The paths of the righteous and the sinners are illustrated, while in the central area, the weighing of deeds - good and bad - constitutes the narrative axis of the composition. A group of sinners is depicted in chains, being led towards the mouth of hell, where the devil awaits them. In some iconographic variants, in the lower register there are nine distinct scenes, illustrating various punishments of sinners. The righteous are guided towards Heaven, symbolized by the central figure of Christ, flanked by the Virgin Mary, Saint John the Baptist and the eight angelic orders: fathers, patriarchs, prophets, hierarchs, martyrs, monastic renunciates, emperors, faithful, female martyrs and holy women.
