The icon was part of the Apostles frieze from a Brâncovenesc iconostasis. On the ochre-yellow background at the top and the green at the bottom of the icon, under a rounded arch, the Apostle Simon is depicted, standing, oriented to the left. In his right hand he holds a scroll, and his left hand is pointing to it. He is represented according to the traditional iconography, with white hair and beard. He wears a blue chiton and a light brown himation, the angular folds of the garment being rendered in darker or lighter shades of the same color, for shadows or lights. The features of the Apostle Simon are executed according to the specific typology of the Brâncovenesc style, the model being rendered in a nuanced range of ochres, with gradual transitions from the shadow areas to the light ones. The halo around the head is delineated by a red line against the ochre-yellow background of the icon. The inscriptions to designate the character are made with red, Cyrillic letters, in Romanian.
