Descriere

We begin the last month of the year by heading towards a place where we will discover a gift for the soul. In this auction, we will find icons attributed to one of the pioneers of glass painting in Transylvania, Petru from Topârcea, as well as to famous iconographers such as Constantin Boghină jr., Matei Țânforea, Pavel Zamfir, and Ioan Pop from Făgăraș. Also, we mark a premiere in the research of glass icons: the discovery of the first icon signed by Nicolae Furnică. This identification reattributes a series of icons previously considered to originate from workshops in the Făgăraș–Rupea area. The selection is crowned by the presence of an icon created by Nicolae Grigorescu, from the Agapia period. Grigorescu and Agapia - this is a connection that no one can ignore and that has often been written about. The icon of the Mother of God with Child is the icon about which tradition says that it served as the proof offered by the young Nicu Grigorescu to obtain the painting contract for Agapia Monastery church. For the simple observer who steps into the "Sfinții Voievozi" church at Agapia Monastery, Grigorescu's painting is essentially an offering to God from an innocent and passionate soul, endowed with a great gift: that of recreating, in lines and colors, the beauty of the world. Bearing grace, icons and sacred art pieces become true collection gifts in this holiday season - reminding us of the perpetual search and embodiment of the divine.
