The lot consists of the following pieces:
1. Holograph letter, signed, sent from Vienna on January 1, 1930 by Panait Istrati to the writer Camil Petrescu. It is drafted in black ink on a vellum sheet. It includes a comprehensive account of the dire financial situation of the miners in the Jiu Valley and disappointment regarding the indifference of contemporaries.
2. Holograph letter in French, signed, sent from the Netherlands to France by Panait Istrati to Frederic Lefèvre (1889–1949), a good friend, writer and director of the Parisian review "Les Nouvelles Littéraires". It is drafted in black ink on a vellum sheet and includes news about family and literary projects.
3. Promotional postcard with Panait Istrati's portrait, mentioning his books, printed by the French publisher Rieder, which is the main publisher where Istrati published his volumes.
4. Thank you letter addressed by Panait Istrati's widow, Margareta, to Camil Petrescu, holograph, signed, dated in Bucharest on January 10, 1937, drafted in black ink on a vellum sheet. The original envelope is preserved.
