"In Dali's Mind". Surrealist Anniversary Auction #547/2024

Welcome to a universe dominated by ideas and dreamlike metamorphoses outlined in a complex artistic movement, surrealism. Starting from the imagination, this movement stands out as an anti-traditionalist movement that explores the subconscious dominated by freedom of expression. The auction highlights the most prominent representative, Salvador Dali. An eccentric appearance, a controversial figure both in terms of the grandeur of his personality and his artistic representations, remains a reference pillar in the history of universal art of the movement, both through its themes and its eccentric appearances. He is influenced by Giorgio De Chirico's "School of Metaphysics," as well as by Freud's theories, both being representative personalities that awaken the vocation for manifestations of the unconscious in art, so that dreams become a recurrent theme in his creation. Attracted to avant-garde movements, Dali will revitalize specific themes of classical art and transpose them into contemporaneity (in paintings, sculptures, objects or even films) through his specific ingenuity, using the surrealist means at his disposal.
