copper engraving, hand-coloured laid paper, 55 x 75 cm

The French cartographer Guillaume de l'Isle (1675-1726) is known both for his papers dedicated to Europe and his atlas of North America. Working at the court of King Louis XV of France, he published this work for the first time in 1703 in Paris. This copy is part of an edition published in the capital of the French kingdom in 1780, in the Dezauché printing house, under the patronage of King Louis XVI. The map has both the historical territory of Hungary and the territories formerly under the Hungarian crown. It is interesting to note that parts of Ukraine, Russia, Moldova and Muntenia are also included, as well as Crimea and the Black Sea. Engraving on copper, manually coloured after imprinting.

For clarifications regarding the bidding procedure, hammer price costs, guarantee, payment, and collection terms for the winning lot, we recommend carefully reading/re-reading the Bidding Regulations.
