The obverse of the medal features the bust of German Chancellor Adolf Hitler facing left and surrounded by the phrase "Der einer und führer aller deutschen" or "the sole leader of all Germans", with the signature of the engraver Hanisch Concer, while the reverse includes the Globus cruciger, symbol of authority, centrally located, the inscription "Das Grossdeutsche reich ist erstanden" or "The Great German Empire Has Risen" and important dates for completion of the annexations of Austria and the partition of the Czechoslovak regions, 1938 and 1939.
