The medal made by the German engraver Wilhelm Friedrich Kullrich has on the obverse the bust of King Carol I, facing left and surrounded by his title and the artist's signature, and on the reverse the inscription "Inauguration / of the Bridge / over the Danube / King / Carol I / 1895 / September 14 ". Designed by Huguenot and Polish origin, the Romanian architect and engineer Anghel Saligny, the bridge was, at the time of its inauguration, the largest in Europe and the third longest in the whole world.
