Dutch cartographer and editor Nicolas Visscher (1618-1679) was the son of Claes Jansz Visscher (1587-1652), who was the founder of a famous family in the field of printing and editing cartographic, historical and engraving works. The establishment has functioned in Amsterdam for almost a century. The piece was executed in 1658 as a part of the "New World Atlas".
