The sword was part of the aviation officers' gala uniform during the reign of King Carol II (1930-1949). The short period of time and the relatively small number of army officer nowadays determines the piece's rarity. The blade is produced by Solingen and at its bottom part one can find the producer's coat of arms. One of the sides is adorned with the King's cypher and the weapon's ensign (a pair of wings surmounting a propeller), bordered by a rich stylised vegetation motif. The other side comprises the Kingdom's coat of arms, in the centre of the same aforementioned decorative assembly. The guard is made of gold-plated bronze, and the textolite handle is very well preserved. The leather sheath is adorned with broad gold-plated brass elements, decorated with the weapon ensign. The item is in a very good state of preservation.
