The 20 lei coin from 1890 reflects a period of consolidation and political and economic stability in the Kingdom of Romania. This issue marks the continuous development of the Romanian monetary system, more tightly integrated into the European standards of the era. The coin also represents a symbol of the affirmation of national sovereignty and of the modernization of the Romanian state towards the end of the 19th century.
