Metropolitan Antim Ivireanul (1660-1716), a theologian and scholar of Georgian origin, established in Țara Românească, wrote, translated and edited numerous works, most of them of a religious nature. His arrival in the country was due to Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu, who supported him in his scribe activity. Antim Ivireanul established two typographies, one in Râmnicu Valcea, the other in Târgoviște, besides which he created actual book printing schools in Romanian. This work was written in 1715 and dedicated to the last ruler of Muntenia, Ștefan Cantacuzino. The pages, printed in black and red ink, on hand-produced paper, comprise the first Romanian translation of such a work. The first pages support encomiastic texts against the ruler, a method used in the era, as well as a successful engraving depicting the coat of arms of the prince. Also, various vignettes and ornaments decorate the pages, among which the editor interspersed three engravings, with the theme "Buna Vestire" ("Annunciation"), "Hristos Învățător" ("Christ the Teacher"), and "Sfânta Cuminecătură" ("Holy Communion"). The pages are bound in leather-wrapped wooden plates with brass locks. The main book cover is decorated with a border consisting of three rows of semi-circular ornaments that have in the middle the image of Jesus blessing, surrounded by stars. These and the central scene are made with colloidal gold. The ornaments on the fourth cover are rendered in the form of stylized vegetable wreaths and stars. Particularly interesting, with a special documentary value, as historian Ilie Corfus pointed out in his book "Însemnări de demult" ("Notes from long ago"), are the handwritten notes on the edges and white parts of the pages, lines that tell us about various phenomena of nature and, in particular, about the Austro-Turkish and Russian-Austro-Turkish wars of the 18th century. The item is in a very good state of preservation.
