Books give us a special universe that new technology has failed to match up. The curiosity of discovering it, by browsing the pages of a volume, is doubled by the satisfaction of owning the book, kept in a bookshelf, collected and especially read. Volumes with handwritten notes, dedications or ex-libris demonstrate the organic connection between author, editor, on one hand, and lecturer, reader, and collector on the other. This way, the history of the book becomes our history. In turn, collection maps sometimes anticipate the written work or sometimes complete it. Also, the authentic and novel medieval documents presented now recover small parts of a more distant past, which, again, proves that the small history is equal in value to the great history. And some of them challenge us to give them full attention in a comprehensive collection : rare books with a strong documentary character, old maps and important manuscripts coming from important collections – Dan Nasta, Sașa Pană, George Macovescu, Vania Gherghinescu. You will discover old and rare editions, such as the first book written in Romanian - Cazania lui Varlaam (The Homilliary of Varlaam) or "Profețiile lui Nostradamus" ("Nostradamus' prophecies") from 1568, but also copies bearing the handwritten signature of great writers, such as Emil Cioran, Lucian Blaga, Marin Sorescu, George Bacovia, Nichita Stănescu or Tudor Arghezi.
