Photographer Ion Miclea (1931-2000) was one of the most important photographers in Romania during the communist regime. A photojournalist for the official agency Agerpres and then a photographer for the communist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, Ion Mclea produced numerous photographic albums on various subjects, which are still highly appreciated today. In 1967, on the occasion of Tudor Arghezi's 87th birthday, his last anniversary, Miclea published an album of 87 pictures dedicated to the writer. The lot includes 36 of these photographs which contain on the back the ex-libris of the photographer and pagination indications. The texts accompanying the images were written by George Macovescu from whose collection the photographs come. The images are some exceptional ones, eloquent proof of the talent of the person who made them.
