The German cartographer, geographer and publisher Sebastian Münster (1488-1552) first published his famous work "Cosmographia" in Latin in Basel, which was a great success and has seen numerous editions printed in several European languages. The present copy is part of the German edition published in 1628 (last edition, posthumous) and represents Wallachia and northern Bulgaria. Engraving on copper hand-coloured after printing.
