Following the studies pursued at the Budapest School of Applied Arts, he travelled to Munich, where he studied at Simon Hollósy's painting school. Although he was mainly a landscape painter, he also completed still life studies. In Baia-Mare, where the artist settled permanently, the Post-Impressionistic and Plein-Air directions were dominant, but the Neo-Romanian innovations are often visible in his painting style. His nephew, art historian György Vida, published volumes about his life and work, such as "Lucrările și calea de viață a lui Géza Kádár" ("The Works and Life Path of Géza Kádár") (Bucharest, 1993).
