Proving the same versatility in approaching the various genres, just like his generation colleague, Ipolit Strâmbu, the artist graduated from The School of Fine Arts, alongside Tăttărescu and G. D. Mirea. He pursued his artistic education in Munich, where he obtained a scholarship and studied under the guidance of Nikolaus Gysis and Karl Maar, learning to draw from the former and the chromatic harmonisation from the latter. In his creation, Capidan would show an inclination towards the nocturnal effect, but also towards the study of how the light spreads. He approached a broad range of topics, from recurring landscapes, still life and Macedonian portraits, to interior compositions. In his interior works, he would focus on decorative details, which offer him the opportunity to put the influences from his study years to fruition. (E.C.)
