The regiment was part of the 5th Călărași Brigade along with the 10th Călărași Regiment, under the organization of the V Army Corps. At the time of entering the war, the 9th Călărași Regiment was commanded by Colonel Romulus Scărișoreanu. The unit participated in the military actions on the Romanian front, throughout the duration of the war, between August 14/27, 1916 - October 28/November 11, 1918.
