Gheorghe Teodorescu Romanaţi a urmat între anii 1910-1916 cursurile Şcolii de Belle Arte, la clasa pictorului G. D. Mirea. În 1921 a deschis prima sa expoziţie personală, la Craiova. Adept al subiectelor tradiţionaliste, Teodorescu Romanaţi a fost unul din cei mai importanţi pictori olteni. Subiectele predominante în lucrările sale sunt peisajele și interioarele bisericeşti sau țărăneşti.
