Ci-CO se număra printre cele mai populare şi accesibile băuturi răcoritoare ale perioadei comuniste. Prima sticlă Ci-CO a apărut în 1960 în cartierul bucureştean Militari. Cererea pieţei era atât de mare încât s-au mai ridicat alte patru fabrici, în Colentina, în zona Gării de Nord, la Avrig şi în municipiul Braşov.
