He stood out through a prolific artistic activity, approaching various forms of visual expression, from painting and graphics to set design and decorative arts. His paintings, often loaded with symbolism and spirituality, reflect a deep meditation on the human condition and the relationship between man and the sacred.
The artist had the opportunity to complete painting internships in various countries, such as Sudan, Italy, or the Netherlands, all of which shaped his personality and creative style even better. Thus, as a result of his studies abroad, many of his works show a leaning towards the Italian Renaissance style.
Color and composition, the use of one technique or another are combined with the diversity of the chosen themes, the materials used and, last but not least, the superior play of ideas.
His experiments are searches within the universe and ways of expression. He will not give up the figurative, and when he moves away from "classic" landscapes and portraits, it will be to probe areas that attract him, such as those of dreams, the unconscious, hallucinatory transformations of the imagination, where a several examples in this regard are: "Infinity", "Norwegian Memory", "Sleep Mask", "Lady with an Ermine", "Legend", "Nocturne Landscape" or "Tahia".
As far as the present work is concerned, the focus is on representing a classic female character elegantly dressed in the style of the Renaissance period. The female character is wearing a red dress with long sleeves, with pearls around her neck, some starting to unstring and fall from her throat as well as a white veil covering her head and shoulders. On her forehead, it is observed that she wears a small pearl that may be part of her attire as a decorative element.
From the way the female character is represented and her features we can easily figure out that she resembles the faces of the damsels from the Renaissance period, but especially that of Mona Lisa. The character has a physiognomy similar to hers, but also due to the way she is represented from the side, as well as her specific clothes for the period.
The young lady is portrayed in a magical, fantasy, fairytale setting where both the colors produced and the other details of the composition create an evident balance in terms of shaping forms and chromatics, based on which Frenţiu harmoniously combines them to create relationships and compositional nuances different from his scenes.
