He distinguished himself through prolific artistic activity, tackling various forms of visual expression, from painting and graphics to scenography and decorative arts. His paintings, often imbued with symbolism and spirituality, reflect a deep meditation on the human condition and man's relationship with the sacred. Sever Frențiu did not reproduce reality but recreated it with the same intensity, in colors and forms conceived exclusively according to his tastes and vision, where a few examples in this respect are: "The Infinite", "Norwegian Remembrance" or "The Mask of Sleep". As for the work at hand, the focus is given by a still life with a sunflower, in a black vase that is placed on a wooden table within an interior, where next to it, on the right side there are some fruits in a small bowl. As a symbol, due to its bright yellow color this is associated with the sun, light, optimism, rebirth, and vitality. The flowers are made in the form of a bouquet that is in a tall black vase, where next to them, at the bottom, still on the table there is a single flower that seems to have withered and fallen from the bouquet. Within the depiction of the scene, an evident balance can be observed in the composition of shapes and chromatics, which Frențiu skillfully blends to create special relationships and compositional nuances for his work.
