A new Postmodern and Contemporary Art Auction brings to light a selection of works that tracks the accelerated evolution of the Romanian artistic phenomenon in all its complexity. Starting with works by the pioneers of Romanian surrealism such as Jules Perahim, Marcel Iancu, or Sammi Briss, and continuing with the successive waves of local surrealism, a current among those that dominate the international contemporary art scene, this time much more particular and oriented towards the inner vision of each artist, we encounter names such as Ștefan Câlția, Sabin Bălașa, Ovidiu Avram, Felix Aftene, Eugen Bratfanof, Florin Niculiu, Paula Ribariu, Laura Covaci, or Obie Platon. The inexhaustible searches of Paul Neagu, but also the intuitive answers he found, the intricate perspectives in the compositions of Andrei Cădere that often lead us back to where we started, or the overwhelming energies directed by Adrian Ghenie, impressive in vision and achievement, all these are clues to the imaginative universes of those who resist the test of time and gracefully traverse epoch after epoch.
