The Jewish community of Romania had not been granted citizenship rights until the First World War, according to the 1866 Constitution. Consequently, its members were organising their own schools, cultural and mutual aid societies. The current item represents the flag of one of these societies, organised around the Caritatea Temple. What should be noticed is the background, represented by the colours red, yellow and blue, symbolising the community's attachment to the Romanian state.
