PROVENANCE

the historical collection Dr. Norbert Smilovits Tamaș

An eminent practitioner of easel painting, in which we find genres such as genre scenes, still life, flowers, self-portraits, interior scenes or landscapes, Francisc Șirato will prove to be a true artist of reality, which will remain his most loyal source of inspiration. In his last creative period, we notice a prominent presence of "flowers", which will become the subject of an extensive series of repetitions and concordances from 1938 onwards. He had painted them before, being lured by their quiet vitality, but now he will find in the composition of the motif an increasingly significant support. Carnations, moon roses, irises, chrysanthemums or tulips, placed next to fruits and various objects will be the elements of a balanced composition. An adept of oil colour, the artist will appreciate this painting as a true joy, which he will mould into promise and beauty, from whose complementary relationships harmonious effects will emerge.
