A student of Paciurea, Irimescu wished to become a great portraitist, a sculptor of monumental and expressive forms, like his master. Irimescu's work spans several phases, without precise delineations, and encompasses a wide range of genres from portraits to monuments, such as: "Centauress with Grapes" (1929), "Centaur with Lyre" (1933), "Head in Florentine Style" (1943), "Saint George" (1945), "Odalistic" (1945), "August 23" (1945), "Girl's Head" (1947), "Mask" (self-portrait, 1948), "Portrait of a Boy" (1955) or "Portrait of the sculptor Ion Jalea" (1960). Regarding the realization of series of portraits of women within his compositions, we observe a predilection for the realization of physiognomies and their details. In the realization of women's portraits, the faces are round, with a high forehead, idealized, represented slightly inclined, with the arches of the arches continued with those of the nose, with the curves of the eyelids close, with those of the partially open or closed mouth. Besides these, other important parts that he takes into account when creating characters are their eyes. In creating the face, the emphasis is on the eyes, on the reconstituting the lines of force and details, where in this way, the faces of the characters convey a thoughtful, dreamy and melancholic expression to the one watching them as well as an expression of purity and wonder in front of the spectacle of life. His works highlight, in an expressive way, the character of the one portrayed, seeking their inner traits, which he synthesizes, expressing vividly the individuality of each model. Throughout his creation, whether he aimed to create an image analogous with the model, or he interpreted or imagined, there is an inclination towards classicism in his representations, both nude, portrait or composition. One of Irimescu's main preoccupations in the case of the portrait is to achieve a certain expressiveness, correlating the most intimate relationships, by establishing correspondences between the physical and the psychic. Most of the works of this kind highlight the increased attention to the one portrayed and the observation of details of each subject in part.
