Lucian Grigorescu's works are often captured en plein-air and faithfully depict the outside world, focusing, admittedly, more on the moment and the atmosphere rather than on form or line. From the warmth of the studio, the interiors, or the still lifes, the painter evolves towards the outside space, towards the overflowing nature and city landscapes, or towards the endless strings of stone buildings with colorful roofs. Whether he captures everyday Bucharest or other cities he often visits, the artist always makes use of his own technique developed over the years, but does not hesitate to occasionally propose stylistic permutations. This time, we find a corner of Balchik, even more so, a favorite meeting place of the painters who came and went over time in the small Black Sea town: Mamut's cafe. The interior with its wide windows, looking directly onto the outside terrace; the flourishing nature; the wooden benches and the steps leading to the open door or even the characters engaged in discussions around the table create that specific atmosphere of the region, which artists have accustomed us to over time.
