Obverse: DD NN HERACLIUS and HERA CONST PP AVG; facing busts of Heraclius (left) and Heraclius Constantine (right) wearing mantle and crowned with a cross; between them, above, a cross. Reverse: VICTORIA AVCЧЄ CONOB; Cross on three steps. Emperor Heraclius was a significant Byzantine ruler, who reigned between the years 610 and 641. He is known for his military and administrative reforms, as well as for his dramatic confrontations with two great powers of the time: The Sasanid Empire (Persian) and the new Arab Muslim forces.
