The Autumn Auction - "Top 100 Great Masters of Romanian Art" brings together the most highly traded 100 Romanian artists, with significant works of Romanian art and museum-worthy masterpieces from the most prestigious collections. Among the remarkable lots is the portrait of Emilia Dona, one of the four Pester Wirth sisters who were muses to the great painter from Câmpina, a portrait originating from the family collection - the renowned collection of Elena and Dr. Iosif Dona. A premiere in the Romanian art market is the appearance of the portrait dedicated to "Horea" (Nicolaie Ursu Horia) created by Ioan Costande, recognized as one of the most important lithographers of the revolutionary period, a portrait that is a testimony from our country's history. An important relic from the last century is the sketch of the grandiose project undertaken by Mihail Simonidy for the CEC Palace in Bucharest. The painting of Nicolae Grigorescu's ox cart is also present, and the floral elegies reveal names like Nicolae Tonitza, Ștefan Dimitrescu or Francisc Şirato. The masters of Romanian painting reveal their favorite muses, allowing us to recognize Hermina (Kimon Loghi) or Lucreția (Gheorghe Petrașcu), and the dedications recorded in pastels introduce us to the emotional universe of the painters. The auction takes us through all painting genres, and the transition from classical art masters to modern and contemporary painters highlights the evolution of Romanian art in the last century and a half.
