General Mihai Burca (1914-1994) was one of the senior officers who organized the Romanian army according to the Soviet model and held important positions in the military system of communist Romania. After he was placed in military reserve, he was appointed president of the Romanian Red Cross Society. The photographs capture General Burcă in Bucharest with an official delegation from China, as well as him along with other Romanian officials during a visit to Turkey. The epaulets are part of the general’s daytime uniform. They are all stored in a leather portfolio, in a very good state of preservation. The gold-plated silver cup was offered to the general by the Greek Red Cross Society.
