Friedrich Kaiser (1815-1889) was an Austrian academic painter specialized in historical painting and portraiture. The painting captures a scene from the War of Independence, with the ruling prince Carol in the foreground, alongside two officers, one Romanian, the other Russian. On the right side of the secondary plane, a battle scene can be observed.
