Întreprinderea Aeronautică Română (IAR) (the Romanian Aeronautical Enterprise) was founded in 1925 and represented the main factory in the Romanian aeronautical industry. The scale model represents the fighter plane Messerschmitt 109, the primary type of such aircraft in the German air force during the Second World War, briefly used by the Romanian air force between 1941 and 1944
