Rectangular-shaped plate made of silver-plated brass by Swiss engraver Huguenin, shows on the obverse the facade of the building that became the premises of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, and on the reverse the descriptive inscription of the event. The Polytechnic Society of Bucharest, founded on December 7, 1881, had its initial premise in Polizu, and was inaugurated by King Carol I in 1886; in the institution's chronology followed the promulgation of the Royal Decree of its foundation under Ferdinand I, in 1920, and the change of name to "Politehnica Bucharest' in 1938.
