The poet, critic and university professor Ștefan Baciu (1918-1993) was part of the surrealist literary group in Bucharest and after 1946 he settled in Brazil and then in the United States where he took up a job as professor of Latin American literature at the University of Honolulu, a field in which he specialised after his expatriation. The work, published by the US publishing house Mexico in 1963, is part of a series that also includes "Poemele poetului tânăr" ("Poems of the Young Poet") (1935) and "Poemele poetului singur" ("Poems of the Lonely Poet") (1979). The copy contains a beautiful dedication to his childhood friend Sașa Pană in which is mentioned, among other things, one of the important qualities, forgotten today, of the founder of the UNU publishing house, that of tireless archivist of the avant-garde literary movement in Romania.
