The work is a fragment of a frieze with Apostles from an iconostasis. The Apostles were painted two by two on a wooden board, the fragments then being assembled into a frieze with the 12 Apostles, the central icon of the frieze being that of Jesus Christ. Like the preceding, Apostle Judas and Apostle Thomas are represented standing, under a fully rounded arch, sculpted and gilded, applied on the icon. On the right side is attached, vertically, a polychrome plant decorative motif, imitating a column. Both Apostles are oriented to the left. Apostle Judas holds the Gospel and Apostle Thomas a rotulus. Their garments are painted in red and green, the folds being executed "molatec" with darker shades for shadows and with gold for the illuminated parts. The faces are rendered according to traditional iconography, but their model is influenced by Western painting. Between the Apostles, against the golden background of the icon, churches stand out, their architecture inspired by local architecture. The bottom part of the icon, painted in green, has a more recent intervention, painted in oil, trying to suggest a landscape in perspective (A.D.).
