Easter Auction - Religious Art from the Most Important Collection of Romanian Ancient Art - "from Mihai Viteazul to Constantin Brâncoveanu” #591/2025
Wednesday, 16 April 2025, 19:00
Cesianu-Racoviță Palace, Bucharest
Religious painting has recently become an attraction, as one of the most interesting and fascinating, yet at the same time little-known, fields of medieval art history. Through the uniqueness of compositions and stylizations, through the balance and chromatic refinement, icons reveal to us a world that is too little known. Icons also adorned the rich interiors of voivode palaces, episcopal residences, the homes of the large and small nobility, or the modest houses of the peasants. Bearing grace, icons or pieces of sacred art represent collectible gifts for the holidays of the month and remind us of the perpetual search for and embodiment of the divine.
