Identification elements of an iconographic and stylistic order: In the deepened field of the icon, bounded by a thickened frame, painted with ocher-yellow and red on the edge, the Archangel Michael is represented frontally, depicted to the hips, wearing a Roman soldier's outfit. He is dressed in a long chainmail shirt, painted with red-ocher, a chest guard painted with blue, and over his shoulders, he wears a red cloak. With his right hand, he holds the handle of a long sword, pointing upwards, painted with blue, and with the left, he holds the sword scabbard, depicted in black. The wings, painted with light brown, have feathers executed with ocher, white and blue for the illuminated parts and with dark brown for the shadows. The imposing figure of the Archangel Michael, presented frontally, stands out against the gold-ocher background of the icon, occupying 3/4 of the surface. This iconographic and stylistic element is part of the tradition of the previous century. His oval face is surrounded by curly hair, painted with brown, in fine strands. The slightly elongated eyes, the arched eyebrows, the straight and balanced nose, the red mouth with a shadow under the lower lip suggests an inner calm, in contrast to his fighter appearance. The modeling of the face is accomplished by the anonymous painter with subtlety, by superimposing ocher shades, with white highlights for lights and with red and greenish-brown for shadows. The composition, typology, and grandeur of the representation of the Archangel Michael allow the positioning of the icon in the middle of the 17th century, being worked by a talented painter, in the style of the painting of Matei Basarab's era.
Technical identification elements: Lime tree wooden panel, thickened on the face, gold-ocher background, tempera painting, varnish.
Conclusions: The composition and style of the painting place the icon of Archangel Michael in the middle of the 17th century. In this sense, the similarities are edifying with the icon of Archangel Michael from Topolnița (1645), located at the National Museum of Art in Bucharest, and with the icon of Archangel Michael from Andronești - Târgoviște (1653) (A.D.).
