Identification elements of an iconographic and stylistic order: The icon is part of a feast and was part of the frieze of an iconostasis, of which nine icons have been preserved in the collection. In the icon of the Baptism of the Lord, the painter respects the traditional compositional scheme, but simplifies it to the essential elements. In the center of the composition, along the axis of symmetry, Jesus is depicted standing in the water of the Jordan. On the left bank, Saint John the Baptist is baptizing him, and on the right bank, an angel is depicted standing. The banks of the river are depicted fancifully, as is the open sky, from which the Holy Spirit Dove descends. The stylistic and chromatic qualities are similar to those of the previous icons. Identification elements of a technical order: The wooden support of the painting consists of a board without a crossbar. Conclusions: The painting of the icon is stylistically placed in religious painting, as practiced in local painting workshops by less educated painters, a painting that will gradually transform into folk painting (A.D.).
