Iconographic and stylistic identification elements: It is an icon divided in two registers. In the upper registry, the Mother of God is shown waist-up, holding the Child in her arms - a Hodegetria type. She is flanked by the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, depicted standing. In the lower registry, the standing Saint Emperors Constantine and Helena are represented, supporting the Cross, the symbol of Christianity, with Saint Nicholas on the left and possibly Saint Andrew of Crete on the right. The background of the icon is blue, and the halos and the frame of the icon are executed in gold. The composition of the scenes, the modelling of the faces, and the execution of the drapery of the garments suggest that the painting of the icon can be attributed to a workshop in Moldova, around 1830, according to the dating of the icon. Technical identification elements: The wooden support of the icon consists of a single board, reinforced on the back with two partially dug-in crossbars. Conclusions: From a technical and stylistic point of view, the painting of the icon fits into the transitional phase of traditional painting towards Western painting, but certain features place it in the Moldovan painting school, with visible influences from the contemporary Greek school (A.D.).
