Identification elements of an iconographic and stylistic order: The work is a festival icon and was part of the frieze of an iconostasis, of which nine icons have been preserved in the collection. The anonymous painter depicted the scene of the Presentation of Jesus, respecting the compositional scheme, but simplified to the essential elements. The scene unfolds against the background of religious architectures, illustrating the moment when the Mother of God, at the Temple, placed the Infant Jesus in the arms of Saint Simeon, followed by Saint Joseph. The composition is strictly balanced. The chromatics, with a dominance of red, ochre, and blue, is similar to that of the icons from the same series. Identification elements of a technical order: The wooden support of the painting is composed of a panel, without a crosspiece. Conclusions: The painting of the icon stylistically fits into religious painting practiced in the first half of the nineteenth century in local, more conservative painting workshops, which will gradually turn into popular painting (A.D.).
